Ding ding ding! Movienight: Desperate Living Y'all ready for this? We didn't want to try to one-up last movienight's selection, Happiness of the Katakuris, because--phew!--how do you one-up a movie as strange as that? Well. It's time to trot out the big guns. This Thursday, we will be watching Desperate Living. Desperate Living, in my humble experience, is the best of John Waters. A trashy, repulsive collection of sociopaths descend on a rich housewife and her overweight maid who are on the run for murder. Oh my god, it's unimaginably tasteless! You are going to love it! One reviewer wrote, "Only John Waters can be credited with making such offensive yet wonderfully charming films. As with the majority of his body of work, Desperate Living is a paradox for the senses. Although tasteless and shocking, it is ultimately warm hearted and uproariously hilarious." Another reviewer labelled it an "outrageous, repugnant movie," added that it's "a paragon of bad taste and hideousness," and ended with "an absolute must..."
